Before There Were Skeletons- A Canadian Mystery!

Before There Were Skeletons

By: Judy Penz Sheluk

Congratulations to Judy on her latest release. Before There Were Skeletons is a riveting Canadian mystery!

Calamity Barnstable runs Past and Present Investigations. She takes on a case of a woman who disappeared back in 1995. The only clue is a silver pendant left behind in a parking lot. Now the missing woman's daughter wants to know what happened to her mother 27 years ago. While Calamity is working on solving this case, she is also training a young recruit and dealing with old feelings involving her mother's disappearance many years ago. Will she ever be able to figure out what happened? Or will her own closet full of skeletons get in the way?

I loved that this book takes place in Ontario, the province where I live. I could readily identify with the various settings along the way. I also loved that the main character is an intelligent, strong woman and that there is a tease of romantic involvement with the Police Detective. The authors writing style flows, and the book is easy to read. She has created a great story with a well-worked-out plot. If you enjoy Sue Taylor Grafton's books, you will love- Before there were Skeletons.

A former journalist and magazine editor, Judy Penz Sheluk is the author of two mystery series: the Glass Dolphin Mysteries and the Marketville Mysteries. Her short crime fiction appears in several collections, including The Best Laid Plans, Heartbreaks & Half-truths, and Moonlight & Misadventure, which she also edited.

She lives in Northern Ontario, Canada, with her husband, Mike, and their golden retriever, Gibbs.

4 stars out of 5.
